FAITH

The courage to rest assured in what you hope for, to believe in something you can’t see.

Shields Up!

A shield is a barrier that keeps harmful things away from you.  It will defend you just a as well from a surprise attack as it will from one you know is on its way.  And it doesn’t lower its’ defense when faced with a new obstacle, nor does it fall apart because its strategy did not go precisely as planned.  It doesn’t grow weary from constant trials of its metal – be it direct attacks, deceitful negotiations, or treacherous white flags.  A shield’s whole purpose is to rest assured in the hands of the One who wields it, so that it can withstand anything that is thrown at it.

FAITH’S MOTTO:

“Rest Assured!”

Lamb: Ovis aries

Did you know that Merino sheep must have someone to take care of them? They are afraid of all kinds of things. They are even afraid of water… well, at least fast-moving water. They also struggle to find food on their own. They must be led away from a pasture if its food has been depleted, or they will starve. Sheep are made to follow. They often follow one another, which is good if the one in front is going somewhere safe. They need a shepherd to lead them to green pastures and by slow-moving waters. A shepherd knows and cares for his sheep, and the sheep know their shepherd. They can remember faces for over two years!

A lamb will often rest in the arms of its shepherd completely sure of its safety. Its courage lies in its trust in its shepherd. The lamb has faith to rest assured that its shepherd knows more than what its own eyes can see.

Where is the Wisdom in having Faith?

“The friendship of the LORD is for those who fear him, and he makes known to them his covenant.” Psalm 25:14

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.”
Proverbs 3:3-5

“In the fear of the LORD one has strong confidence, and his children will have a refuge.” Proverbs 14:26

“If you had faith like a grain of mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.” Luke 17:6

“For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”” Romans 1:17

“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”
Hebrews 11:1
