Summary:

This 10-week class will cover the basics of theatre acting, the whole idea of playing a role, chemistry with other actors/characters, and an introduction to emotions. It is designed to be a fun look at what acting is all about while learning and honing the basics of the craft. This class will include games, memorization, and a little homework (10-15 minutes).  It will run in conjunction with but is not exclusive to, the Fall musical produced in partnership with Sounding Joy Productions.

Class Will Include:

  • Developing trust and discipline
  • Learning to utilize the tools of an actor: the eyes, the face, the voice, the body
  • Discovering the great advantage of good observation
  • Understanding how to feel what certain feelings feel like
  • Learning tips and tricks on memorization
  • Playing acting games
  • Having fun!

Class Structure:

  • Classes are held on Mondays from 4:30-5:30
  • Class focus: Ensemble Chemistry
  • Time will be divided into 5 components which include:
      • Prayer
      • WarmUp
      • Games
      • Teaching
      • and Application
  • Homework (10-15 minutes) will prime the next class’s teaching time
